The american dream is being successful. Everyone in the U.S. has a dream of going to school getting the perfect job, making lots of money, buying the perfect house, and starting a family. I wouldnt be able to choose between one or the other because i don't feel like i know enough about either of their policies.
Originally, immigrants came to America looking to start a new life in a country with more opportunities than their previous one. Now, the American dream is more about people wanting to become successful and prosperous. I'm not really into politics, but I think that Obama would be a better candidate because he's more liberal.
I would define the "American Dream" as having a good job that pays enough to support you. In other words its to make it in America. However, the future has modernized it and its been changed from not only having the job that gets you by, but also having luxurious extras that are, at most times, unnecessary. It also includes living in a mansion with the best car and having what everyone else has around you. I think Barrack Obama can help serve this dream with plans for change to adjust to a changing society, but I also think the old ways that McCain supports are very exclusive to our future well-being and preservation of the American Dream. Unfortunately, during this time of economic crisis, some middle class citizens will have to postpone their American Dream expectations to focus on what necessary and most important.
The American Dream is having all the material goods, such as a nice car and a big house, but there is more to it too. The American dream also consists of being happy with your life and depending on you that could mean having a successful family or enjoying your time on your own. Personally I think Obama would be better at preserving the hope of the American Dream. The little things now, such as preserving the environment, would turn into even bigger issues in the future and as a democrat/liberal Obama would be preserving the world to create opportunities for our generation and future generations.
I believe that the american dream is becoming not rich but wealthy. The difference between the two being that becoming rich is something you want for selfish reasons. you want that nice Mercedez benz, that house with a pool, but I feel that many more immigrants come to this country and work minimum wage not to become rich, but mostly to support their families and help their children be able to reach their own dreams. That is wealth, not to accumulate money for solely yourself put to be able to provide those you love with a future.
I like barack obamas stance on giving middle and lower class cuts because it gives people that luxury to save and spend on stuff they want but could normally not afford.
The American Dream is becoming successful and being able to do what you want to do. America was built on freedom, liberty, and opportunity and the more the government controls the United States the less of these rights the people will have. Our founding fathers set up this country to allow Americans to have rights, unlike so many other countries, and we take it for granted. Many Americans don't realize how long it took this country to become what it is today, a world superpower, the best country in the world. The US is 225 years old, and has had powerful leaders the whole way through. Yes, there has been some bumps in the road, but none may have been so big as what lies directly ahead of us. As you all know, the United States of America is having some slight problems right now with the economy, and making sure terrorists aren't coming onto our turf. But since 9/11 our government has kept them out, so lets keep them out for good. So if we're going to keep them out why 'change' our military strategies, or why 'change' the types of people who have made this country so great, by electing a community organizer as our president. A community organizer is basically someone who organizes people to milk the government for everything they can get. I'm not going to start ripping into current community organizers right now, but they are not the people I want as President of the US. Senator John McCain will better serve Americans, and all of their American Dreams, don't be fooled by Barrack Obama, who has not logged enough executive or military experience to become our president.
The american dream is to be sucessful. People want to live in this ideal world where everyone and everything is perfect. You could have a good job, alot of money, a nice family, a big house...the list goes on. I'm not really into politics and I don't really know enough about either candidates to pick which one is better, but I have a feeling Obama is going to win.
The American Dream is living in prosperity and having a lot of money. I think that Obama could lead us better in the future to the American Dream because obviously the republicans and the Bush administration couldnt up to now. The country needs a change thats why Obama should be president.
The American dream is to become successful and happy. I feel like politics is just crazy at times. I haven't been following the candidates, and from what I saw from the debate, it seems like both are trying to beat around the bush when it comes to answering questions. I have a feeling that Obama is going to win though.
The Bush government may have kept the terrorist out but i dont believe anybody can say that he has been succesful domestically. This is not a slight economic crisis when experts are saying that we may be in the midst of an economic crisis approaching the scope of the great depression. This is due to the failed economic theory the republicans call trickle down. Deregulating big business, a policy john mccain has been a firm advocate of, has led us into this mess in the first place. What does leadership mean anyway, agreeing with the Bush administration 90% of the time? We are in a war in which the republican administration led us into with little to no strategy, this is what mccain supported, totally underestimating the cost of this war both strategically and economically. The appointment of an inexperienced vice presidential nominee solely because she is a woman with conservative views and the stunt he pulled by going to the white house when he was sliding in the polls further shows mccains commitment to politics over substance. Barack obama is out to get Al quaeda and get us out of possibly the biggest military blunder in US history. When bill clinton left office gas we were in an economic boom and now we are in a serious recession. Bush was considered a leader who thought with his gut, do we need another 4 years of the same type of leadership?
The American Dream is to achieve happiness and to become successful with whatever you wish to do. I believe that going to school and getting a job in the field that is most interesting to you is the most important thing in life. Achieving your goals in life is part of the American Dream and being happy is the biggest part in this dream. Many people think that having lots of money will make you happy or going to a job everyday that you hate getting up and going to in the morning is what you "have" to do, when really you can do whatever you want, and thats whats so great about the American Dream. I dont know too much about the election but from what I've seen in the debates I feel like Obama would better serve our country. He seems like a regular guy down to earth with the best interest of the people at heart where McCain just says things people want to hear and seems to be most like Bush.
The "American Dream" was a term used back when there was a huge wave of immigration. Immigrants thought of the American Dream as being able to come to America, get a great job, be rich, and have a family. Once these immigrants actually got to America, many of them were disappointed has the harsh reality set in. There were many prejudices that prevented the immigrants from succeeding and life was very difficult for them. I do not know much about politics, but I think that Obama would be a better president in terms of helping people reach the "American Dream" because I am democratic.
I would define the american dream as having a good job, car, family, and having a good life in general. I wouldnt be able to pick a candidate yet because i still have no opinion on either and do not know their polices well enough to make a accurate choice.
I think the American dream is to become sucsessful in life. Being sucsessful is having a good job and coming home to a loving family every night. I think Obamas policies would better serve this dream because his plans would help out the middle and lower class citizens.
The American dream is having the freedom and the opportunity to better your life in some way. Also it might be your initiative to make life better for your children, and they for the generation above them. As far as candidates for the election I would have to support Obama because of the fact that I share more liberal views. I also think that he might help our economy more then McCain.
The "American Dream" is about everyone having the opportunity to work hard, purse happiness, and become successful. I beleive Barack Obama's agenda and policies would better serve this dream for a number of reasons including his views on the economy. Social mobility is much easier to achieve when there is not such a large gap between the rich and the poor. Having higher taxes on the wealthiest 5% of the country achieves this. Also, with the economy as it is now, we cannot afford to wait for the effects of trickle-down economics.
To be honest I don't think any presidental candiate running in the election can serve the American Dream. The American Dream is the path taken to get what you want out of life. I feel that as long as there are political parties nothing in Washington will get done to improve the nation. I take that back, of coarse things will get done and whoever is responisble for the improvements should get the credit, but the amount of change that can occur if there were not political parties pulling the names and covering the faces of canidates would be unbelieveable.
The american dream is the opportunity to achieve greater material prosperity than was possible. Today really, you can acheive anything you could possibly put yourself towards. No matter what people may think of you and where you will end up time from time, only you can better yourself. In this current election I feel John McCain is more for the mindset of achieveing the american dream. As a conservative he does not restrict government regulations on businesses allowing them to achiveve as much profit as possible. Giving people the total freedom to be succesful is what living the american dream is all about.
the american dream is to be living in a country with freedoms and so many opertunities to prosper and to make money in our great market economy. If Obama becomes president then he will highly tax the upper and middle class and give that (indirectly) to the poor. that doesnt sound like the american dream to me... hell it doesnt even sound like capitalism... it kinda sounds like... whats the word... COMUNISM!!!
I think that the American Dream is to be able to improve your life nomatter who you are. The first immigrants that came to America did so becuase they had no chance to improve their lives in Europe. Recently it has become harder for the lower classes of people to be able to have a chance to be successful. Becuase of this I think that Obama would do more to help the American dream, becuase the government needs to be able to make sure that everyone is given a chance to succede.
The American Dream is a term constantly used to describe a life where everything goes exactly as one wishes or desires. Everyone wants to live the "American Dream" because in this dream all would be successful and things would come easily, almost naturally. Personally, I am undecided as to which candidate has the potential to further enhance this idea of a "dream", mostly because I agree with different policies between the two parties.
I believe the American dream means that we should be free to make our one decisions and we should be rewarded for the work we do. I believe that John McCain is the candidate who can lead our country to success. He will continue to reward the people of our country for the hard work they do and let us have the freedom we deserve.
The American Dream is to work hard and earn a good salary and become happy and succesful. Barack Hussein Obama, not to be confused with Sadaam Hussein ex dictator of Iraq despite their similar policial views, is unAmerican. He does not believe in hard work or earning a living. Obama attended Harvard University due to affirmative action, a policy that helps minorities like Barack attend schools they aren't qualified to attend. Today he is running for President of the United States on the Socialist bill... I mean democratic. Obama is going to steal 700,000 dollars a year from the richest Americans who earned their money. This 700,000 is on top of the already rediculous gradguated income tax that has the hardest working paying over half their salary to those who don't work to earn excellent salaries. Obama is a borderline communist candidate and it is unbelievable that he has a shot at winning. McCain is a middle of the road politician, and if it weren't for the left wind minded media, Obama would have been exiled from the U.S for his Karl Marx like views. Hey Robin Hood… I mean Barack all you say is change, whats it mean?
I would define the American Dream as another word for happiness, health, and security. Yes people strive to be successful but everyone works towards one common goal: happiness. Thats why I feel the American Dream represents hardworking individuals working for an education to receive a job of their interest so they can be satisfied with what they do for a living. If one enjoys what they do, it can not so much be considered a "job." Many people work hard for the extra cash and tangible materials, but the less wealthy can understand, family and health is what matters most. I have to admit i haven't researched much but from what I know, I feel Obama is better suited for us as Americans because he is an average man looking out for the good of the people. He wants to help conserve the environment, which is extremely important, and he wants to give the lower income class a break because he knows the struggle many people face everyday, that most of us are to blinde to see.
The american dream is the dream that basically all people have, to one day be successful and happy in your life and make a good amount of money, own land, and really live a happy forfilling life.
