Thrill Kill

Is man inherently evil or are evil men created?
Read the following article and watch the footage on CNN to reflect on it thoughtfully.

This is absolutely sickening to me. I just cannot wrap my head around the fact that someone would just decide to murder an innocent human being because they were bored. I honestly don't know what would posses someone to do that and how it could ever possibly be justifiable. I don't think it is an excuse to say that they had a bad life or they have emotional issues. If you have problems or issues with yourself you should do something about it with yourself and not take it out on someone else. We can't keep pn blaming other people for their actions. It is time that people begin to take responsibilty and prepare for the consequences. I also do not understand how this defense attorney can sleep at night knowing that he/she was defending a scummy piece of society like that.

This is absolutely sick. Any human who can possible think that it is a thrill to kill someone is absolutely disgusting. This man not only killed someone but he killed an innocent woman he did not know. He had absolutely no motive at all. That is even more disturbing than anything else. I also can not come to understand how you could ever stab a young girl age 11, 18 times. I do not understand how messed up this man must be in order to accomplish such a task. He took an innocent womans life and almost ended a young girls way too early. I don't understand what his problem is. If you have problems with your own life get help don't take it out on someone else. I especially feel for the young girl. I can not even begin to imagine the fear she must live in now. She witness a horrible act, and not to just anyone, she witnessed her mothers murder. That has got to be without a doubt the hardest thing anyone could have to endure. I feel for her and hope that she is able to move past this and live her life but, she will never be able to forget it. This man not only took the womans life by killing her but, he took the daughters life as well, she will never be the same. He took her innocence and no one will ever be able to give that back to her.

After reading the news article, I am sickened by the actions of Steven Spader and I am in disbelief of how someone could commit such a horrible crime. It is hard for me to imagine what goes on inside someone’s head that is able to commit murder for enjoyment. Steven Spader is an extremely troubled teenager, and he deserves to spend the rest of his life behind bars for his actions. Spader murdered an innocent woman and severely injured a young girl. The young girl is now forced to live without a mother, and with the memory of the horrific day when she was assaulted and her mother was murdered. A life time jail sentence is definitely necessary in this situation, as it is the court system’s job to ensure crazy people like Spader are not able to harm innocent Americans. I also think Spader’s accomplices should be severely punished, because without them this horrific event would not have happened. In this situation, I believe Steven Spader is inherently evil. I think this because at such a young age, one must posses an internal problem in order for them to commit murder without remorse.

It is utterly terrifying to know that there are people like Spader who are that demonic. After he spends the rest of his life in prison, he will be warmly greeted at the blazing gates of hell where he belongs. (No pun intended) I completely agree with Katie where she says that there is something mentally wrong with him. It is really beyond me that his psychotic behavior and thought was not detected earlier by his parents, friends or teachers unless he hid it well enough. I believe that man are not inherently evil because you don’t come out of the womb thirsting for blood. I can’t explain why people want to take another person’s life; I wish I could.

Obviously, the actions of Steven Spader and his friends are extreme examples of social abnormality. I personally feel disgusted by their actions, and I feel horribly for the family. However, I do not believe that Spader, or any of them, were "inherently evil." A man is the product of his experiences. There can be no denying that Spader had some sort of experience during his childhood that predisposed him to commit such violence. Genetically, some people may be more predisposed to violence, but I honestly do not believe that anyone is inherently evil, they behave as products of their psychological experiences. I believe that a child can be taught to believe anything by the society he grows up in, and while these things could be good, they could at other times be very, very bad.

There has to be something wrong with Steven Spader. The fact that he was sentenced on his birthday and making a joke out of it by saying, "maybe they will sing happy birthday to me" is sickening. Another thing which is absolutely horrible is that he got 4 other kids to help him. I don't understand how a teenager or even anyone at that matter can be obsessed with killing. There has to be something wrong with this guy that he needs major mental help. As said in this article, he fantasized about violence and breaking into peoples homes. I don't get how when he was actually stabbing her over and over again, how he couldn't just look at himself and say what am I doing. I am glad they got him into jail so quickly.

I think that evil men are created. They way kids are brought up and what they see is what makes them who they are. Abusive parents, TV, movies, celebrities, the news etc. Thats what puts the evil in some people's minds. Its the same concept as playing a sport. Nobody is born a football player, they just start to play football because of their surroundings. Just like how no man is born evil, they become evil from what they see and surround themselves with during their life. Kenny Anello

Obviously these kids were seriously disturbed, they clearly have something wrong with them and they all deserve life in prison. Its scarty to think that only one of them has been sentenced to life in prison and that even though the others are just as guilty they have been given only a "lengthy prison sentence". Its infuriating to think that the kind of sick and twisted individual who could be convinced to by a friend that it would be fun or just a "thril" to break into a house, stab a woman to death, and almost kill her eleven year old daughter will actually some day be walking the streets again. I think that these kids are scum and dont even deserve the tax dollars its going to take to keep them alive in prison for the rest of their lives. They brutally murdered that woman and destroyed her daughter and husbands lives for a "thrill".

After reading this article, I find it very disturbing that people could do something like this. Their reasoning is just unbelieveable too. I truly believe that man is inheraenty evil. To say you want to kill someone just to know what it is like is outn of this work. These people were evil from day one and it just began to emerge now. These animals should be punished to the full extent of the law and put away for as long as possible to make sure they dont do something like this again

These kids are disgusting. You think about how ridiculous some of the actions of today's youth are, but to actually kill someone for the adrenaline rush is beyond any of those. I'd like to ask them what it felt like to look into the innocent eyes of a mother and her daughter asthey were stabbing them. How did it feel to hear those screams of pain and terror? How can you do something like that to someone and their child? In better words, how can you leave a child alone in this world without a mother? You ruined a young girl's life so you could have a thrill. How great for you.

People who would agree with these group of kids are scum, and it makes me furious that there are people out there who are like that.

Steven Spader is a teenager who was desperate for entertainment and took it out on a young girl and her mother. I cannot fathom how someone could stab someone else and watch as they die right in front of them. This story led me to question what happened in Spader’s youth. I don’t believe that humans are born evil, but I do believe that what happens in the lives of people leads them to do things that are evil. What went through Spader’s head before, during and after the event will always be a question to the victims, but what will never be forgotten is the result of one teen’s boredom.

This article is scary and disgusting. There is no way a man can be this inherently evil. Although I do think man is not perfect and does not always have benevolent intentions, this event is different. His evil must have been created. Whether it was from the music he listened to or the groups he belonged to, something distorted him mentally. Anyone that can kill a woman and attempt to kill a young girl and not feel guilty must have gone through some type of event that changed the way he thought about things. Nobody can naturally do such a thing and enjoy it. I hope that no other men will go through events that will make them this evil.

I believe this question cannot be accurately answered, for how are we supposed to know the answer? I do however believe that man is potentially made good, and things that happen during their lifetime can pull them on the evil side. Society has such a huge influence on a person that it can change their nature of goodness. As told in the article, the T.V. show "The Sons of Anarchy" influenced Spader to create a group of teenagers built for destruction. I really am stumped to think of an answer to why people think this is okay. I also believe that something goes wrong inside someone that makes them like this. It can't be humanly possible for a normal human being to get joy out of taking a life of another person. But then again, what's the definition of "normal?"

I cannot even begin to take in this horrible story. I have never heard of anything like this before and I have no idea why you would come up with this disgusting idea. All i can say is I can not even imagine how her daughter and husband must feel. They did absolutly nothing to deserve this and now her poor 11 year old daughter has to live with the vision of seeing her mother murdered for the rest of her life. In my opinion i think Stven Spader definaelty should have gotten the death sentence instead of life in prision. I don't know which one is worse but he should have to suffer painfully for the rest of his life. I dont believe that they were inherently evil. Throughout their lives experiences and things they saw definately played a part in the way they grew up. They obviously are mentally sick. Nobody mentally stable would randomly decide to kill an innocent person just for the "thrill of it." Obviously we see innocent people on the news everyday who have been murdered by horrible people but to actually admit to picking a random person and writing out their plot and reading it as a story in jail is so gross. I cant imagain what Spaders parents must think. I hope they are as disgusted as everyone else in the world is.

As sad is it sounds, this is not a surprising story to hear about in the world today. There's no way people are born like that. You can be born with many psychological problems, but you're not born to kill. The boy was made this way through events he experienced over his life. He was influenced by things such as the show he watched,"Sons of Anarchy." People like this have no conscious or they're able to block these things out from the terrible experiences they have been through. Killing for fun, doesn't sound like your ideal teenager.

Man cannot be inherently born evil. Such a thought is contradictory just in saying that thought. Being BORN is in itself, a good thing, one is pure. As time goes on in life, certain factors pertain to how a person actually turns out as a member of society. And none of this has to do with video games or any of that nonsence. If someone commits violence because of video games, there is something much more wrong then them being corrupted by the video games. Most of the ways that people become this way is either a deep seeded mental problem, trouble at home, or just plain growing up in a bad place.

Just the thought of someone even thinking to want to kill someone just to see what it is like is sickening. I am disgusted by the actions that Stev Spader did. How could you stab someone 32 times and not even be affected by it, and then an eleven year old girl 18 times. People are sick and i personally believe that this sick "human" deserves to be sentanced to death. It's scary that this 18 year old teenager looks like a normal person, this could be anyone. Needless to say, you hvae no idea what people are thinking or what insane thoughts are going through their head.

He really deserve life in jail. They all do, for this horrible crime. In fact, I my feelings are mixed on the death sentence, but it should most definitely be considered in this situation. I hope he recieves fine mental therapy in prision because he sure;y needs it. It's absolutely horrible to think that such people exist in this world. It's disgusting to think that this is what the wrold has come to. Teens are bored, so they try and find a thirll... so they KILL?! It's friggin absurd and abnoxious.

Words can't express how horrible I feel for this poor girl and her father who now have to live the rest of their lives without their mother/wife. Not only should any child have to miss out on having their mother but to lose her in this way is absolutely horrible. This young 11 year old girl should have never had to go through an experience like this, her innconce has definetly been taken from her and sadly she is never going to get that back. I hope that all of these young men are punished for this horrible act and not only the ring leader. They are all responsible for that womans death because none of them did anything to stop this horrible night.

This is a hard question to find a definite answer to. I believe that it's is different for each person. I think that from life experiences, a man can become evil. However, it must be somewhere already inside of them because there are tons of people who could have simply horrible things happen to them and never resort to being evil because of it. I don't understand how people could do such senseless things as the young boys did in this case. How they could want to kill just because they wanted to see what it's like is beyond me. It simply is not in me; no matter what could happen to me in my life, I could never be able to do anything like that. People like this must not be entirely there. They are missing the sense that people are in fact people! They have lives and stories and families and people who love them. To want take all of that away from someone to see what it's like is horrifying to even think about.

Anybody who gets a "thrill" from murdering another human being is obviously mentally impaired. What this teenage boy did was horrible and it makes me sick to my stomach. How can anybody have it in them to murder an innocent woman for pure fun? I just don't understand. I think the problem today is that jail is too nice. People such as this boy have horrible lives with nothing going for them. They can't get jobs, they live in broken down houses with a horrible family life and nobody cares about them. These are the people that commit these crimes. They figure that a crime this bad is worth it for them to go to jail. Jail is kind of nice for them. They get free meals, free housing and they get to have friends and workout whenever they want. Yes the life of an inmate is not a bad life. I blame this problem on America's jail penalty and jail system. I believe this boy should get the death penalty for this crime. Anybody who kills an innocent human being should be killed!

I honestly don't know if I am more confused or disgusted. Spader is clearly a very sick person, and what would posses him to randomly attempt to kill two innocent women, I will never understand. I think Spader's only justifications would be the death sentence, or life in prison (so atleast that way he has to suffer). "He spoke about breaking into houses. And then he spoke generally, fantasizing, about violence, murders, killing people, roasting people, eating people, putting heads on stakes and making scenes for news crews." There is clearly something wrong here, and I don't know where to place the blame. I typically don't accept the statement, "that's just how I am," or the "genetics" excuse because everyone has the ability to make their own decisions. The attorney defending Spader is going to have a very hard time defending this case.

This doesnt make sense to me as to why someone would be possessed to want to kill. Although i do joke around with many jokes about homicide, it still makes me sick to think that many people actually believe in this act. I cant wrap my mind around these ideas and their reasoning for simply being that they felt like it. It just doesnt make sense. There is no way to justify the act of murder without reason. No one deserves to die.
