I dont't think people should be able to text at school or at work. At school it really should'nt be aloud in class. But outside of class it is alright, because it is not a distraction. At work it should only be aloud if the texting is benifting your work.

I believe that technology has deffinitely helped societ as a whole. The internet in particular has become an advantage. I believe that kids should not be allowed to text in class just because it takes away from the learning expierience.

Technology and school dont go hand and hand, in school if you are more into your texts then your classwork then you wont learn anything. texting should be banned from school and work to keep you on task

The advancements in technology has not become a burden in today's society. The cell phone and the internet have helped society the most because it connects the whole world. Also, with the internet, information is now available that would have been inaccessible otherwise. People should only be allowed to text in school during lunch, or in the hallway. If they text during class they will not be paying any attention to what they are suppossed to be learning.

Essentially, technology has hurt our society. Hours consumed on social networking sites such as Facebook and Myspace have replaced homework, studying, and even socializing. Text messaging has become the worst of all these things. Texting in class, at work, or as blatant as in the middle of dinner over the table. Texting which started off as a quick way of communicating, has now devloped into somehting uncontrollable. Our generation needs to learn how to lessen our dependancy on technology.

I do not think that people should be allowed to text while in school. I think that it takes away from what you are learning. Out of class, I think it is okay, but you shouldnt 24/7 because I think that it kills brain cells.

I think that technology has helped and hurt society. Society is now more advanced, but now people are becoming more dependent on it. I think that kids should be allowed to text in class as long as the phone is on silent because if you want to text you have to take the consequences of missing what is going on in the class. If you want to take away from your own learning expierience then you can.

I don't think technology has hurt us, but rather help us in getting things done faster. Texting isn't bad as long as it's in the hallway or only an emergency.

I think that technology has changed society greatly in the last few years. People have become so dependent on technology that people dont even talk face to face anymore. Its all texting and emailing now. I dont think students should be allowed to get text in class or at work because it takes away from what you are doing.

I think when people use technology too much it hurts them because using the computer and texting too much stops people from communicating face to face because they feel texting is "easier". I think that it shouldn't be allowed in school because it is distracting, however outside of class I think it is okay as long as you don't text so much that your thumbs feel like they are going to fall off.

Technology is the answer to everything. Need an adress, book summary, recipe, essay idea? Type it into the search bar at Google.com, why open a book when you have to? People are no long reading books since a shorter, quicker way is right at your fingertips. I feel we are being deprived knowledge wise and are lacking intelligence we can consume through opening a book. I also believe in texting when needed. Sometimes you need a little pick-me-up conversation with a friend or family member to keep you going through the day, or maybe you have an important question that needs to be answered ASAP but you don't want to call because that's rude if someone else is talking. Technology causes all sorts of controversies and will continue to do so until it is perfect.

Technology has deffinatly benefited society in many ways, however at the same time we have become very reliant on it. We have new ways of finding information by using the internet and it has made communication much easier. On the other hand, there is less personal communication between people because you can either make a phone call or text them rather than talking face to face. I also think that depending on the individual, texting should be allowed in schools. If the person seems to be able to keep their grades up and not be too distracted by their cell phones they should be allowed to use them where as people whos grades seem to drop shouldn't.

Technology has only significantly ruined communication in my opinion, because people rely so much on texts and comments on social networking sights, that it really isn't "socializing" anymore. When people don't talk face to face, miscommunications happen more frequently. Yes, texting has made things easier and faster, but is it really necessary to do it so constant, even during class? I think people will look back one day and realize that maybe they should have payed more attention in class than to their phones. It can make all the difference.

I don't think that technology has become a burden in today's society becasue it's made it so much easier to communicate with one another. It's helping us to evolve and become more knowledgeable of the world. I also think that people should be allowed to text freely at school and work becuase it's sort of a silent way of commuicating so it shouldn't distract anyone and if ur texting and not paying attention it's your problem.

I think technology has helped advance our society. It helps people communicate and connect with people faster and more effectively than they were able to before. As for texting in school, I think that students should be allowed to as long as it doesn't distract people around them, because if you are ok with the consequences of missing the material, then you should be allowed.

I think that technology has somewhat become a burden in todays society because people would rather IM people or text message them then actually talk to them. I think it is hurting us in some ways because soon it may replace human contact all together.

Technology has made our society lose personal contact with those they are communicating with. It has harmed us as a society because those that we don't wish to "deal with" are easily avoided by the push of the end button. I think texting should not be allowed in school or at work because it is a distraction that takes away from the full experience one would be receiving if paying full attention. While texting may be "easier" and less of a struggle, it makes us lose communication skills and will hurt us in future job searches.

People have grown to become very dependent on technology. If one were instructed to live a day without the use of some sort of technology, I don't think they would be able to. We have grown to rely so much on the use of it that it has almost hurt us. The constant use of Facebook and Myspace as well as the uncontrollable urge to text has prohibited some kids from actually doing what they need to do in order to be successful. There are ways in which technology has truly helped us. If it wasn't for the internet we wouldn't be able to conduct research whenever we wanted, or even stay in contact with friends that we don't have an opportunity to see every day. I feel like there is a time and place for text messaging. I don't believe that students should be allowed to text in class, but they should be allowed to in the hallways or even in lunch. Work is a different story. I feel like you should only be able to text during your lunch period.

Technology is becoming more and more an extention of ourselves. This can be a good thing if we use it correctly . If we do not it becomes a burden because we make it a central focus in our lives. If we can use it only enhance the human experince, or alter it, the advencment of technology can only help us.

Technology advancements have became a burden to a lot of teachers because now that phones can get onto the internet and students can text their friends without a problem, the teachers lose so of the focus of their students. Overall I think the advancements in technology help a lot because they help make things so much easier and convenient for many people. A good thing about texting messaging is if you are trying to talk to someone and the service around you is horrible, and the other person’s voice is getting all chopped up, you can just send a text message that way no one will be confused. It also helps if you are in a quiet place where you shouldn’t be talking or in a place where you can be talking but no one else is like on a train because you won’t feel like everyone listening to what you are saying. I think people should be allowed to freely text in between classes and during their free periods however I don’t believe they should be allowed to text during class. Even if the teacher isn’t teaching, I don’t think they should text because the person that they are texting may get distracted while they should be learning. During work I believe people should be allowed to text as long as they complete their job as best as they can and if it doesn’t distract them.

Text messaging is a sticky topic. It's definitely a distraction to the texter, but I don't think it is that big of a deal in school or work. Texting during an exam or quiz is out of the question due to the possibility of cheating, of course. While the teacher is explaining something or giving notes, students should not be texting, but while students are working individually it should not matter, as long as they complete their work on time. During work it should be fine, too, as long as their work is done at the end of the day.

Technology is a burden in today's society because it is difficult to stay focused when doing multiple tasks. When a teacher is giving notes to the class a student would miss those notes or not understand what they mean if they are texting. I think students should be allowed to use their cell phones outside of the classroom because they have no threat to education. When working texting depends on the type of work that is being performed. If you are a salesperson you should not be on the phone when trying to sell something. However if you are managing things it may be useful

Technology has helped the society over years. Has not become a burden, more and more things are inproving and becoming fast and easy. I think texting messaging should be allowed in school but not during class. I also think that goes for offices and work. I see no harm in connecting with others during your job or studies.

I feel technology has only helped us to further ourselves in life but can also sometimes complicate it. I think texting should be permitted in class because if there was ever an emergency at home, I would want to get in touch with my child immediatly and not have to go through stupid main office and tell them my life story of why i need to speak to my child.

Technology has placed a burden on society, especially the youth. People often cannot look away from their phone long enough to have a conversation with someone face to face. It allows people to send an email or text and avoid the socializing that goes along with making a phone call. Texting should be banned in classes because it is a distraction, but in hallways it should be allowed. It should be allowed at work as long as it is not interferring with the job the person is supposed to be doing,

Technology is not a burden or hurtful thing to society. It is how we as people take advantage of it that hurts us in some cases. It encompasses so much that we don't even realize we have. When you think about it, how long could we last during a blackout and/or without cell phones in some weird scenario? As far as texting in class, it just shouldn't be done. It should be treated as equally as talking to someone on the phone which would not be done class. If there is a real (legit? can I use that word?) reason for it, then we should be allowed to text in the hallway or at work.

Technology is interesting. I do believe that is helping society but i do hope, that because technology is becoming so advanced that we will get smarter and understand how the technology can in ways harm us. When it comes to text messages, NO!. Because of text messages people are unable to talk face to face, or speak publically. They also typ incorrectly. I think text messaging is useful, but i think people need to compensate text messaging with face to face contact, or they will be stuck in the dark.

I believe technology is both helping us and hurting us. For example, no one calls eachother anymore, or sends hand writen personal letters. Everything is done either through text message and e-mail. Technology does have its benefits though, advancments in medicine have been made and also in the areas of learning. I don't think people should be able to text in school or at work because it is a distraction, but people will do it anyway. Although at school I do think it should be okay to text outside of class and on off periods.

Texting, like most technology can be extremely useful and helpful. Therefore, i feel that students and employees should be allowed to use it as long as they are using it for the right reasons. If they are using it to cheat or distract themselves and it is prohibiting them from completing their specified tasks correctly, then they should not be allowed to do it any longer.
