I think America has made significant progress in race relations in recent years in some ways but in others i fell it has stayed the same. there are always going to be some people that are racist and you cant change peoples minds about this subject. i do believe though that with education in schools they have begun to teach at a younger age that race really doesnt matter. hate crimes that are committed arent going to be stopped no matter what you tell people because theyre going to think what they want and feel that they are superior to other races.

Over the past 10-15 years we've made a small progress. Racism is still a large part of our daily lives, but we must not hold back from it. Racism will always be a factor as long as we are around diffrent ethnicities.

There has been some progress, but not that much. There are many people here illegally from other places and a lot of Americans don't like that. This tends to cause people to generalize a whole race and put them into one category of "illegal aliens". Americans do have a lot of work to do to make America a racist free country.

I believe that America as a whole has made improvements regarding race and race relations. However, many still continue these old ways of racial hatred against minorities which is horrible and will change in more time as more people make strides in the right direction.

I believe that Americans have made significant progress in race relations over time. It is especially evident since our new president is of African American decent. I believe that hate crimes such as the one in Patchouge will always happen just because some people such as these teenagers are arrogent and selfish and think that they are better than everyone else.

I think that America has come along way against racism. However, were getting better as a country because we came a long way fron the 1960's where there was segregation. Theres always going to be racism out there in parts of the country and it will very difficult to change the views of those people. As a country we still have a long way to go.

We have come a long way since slavery, but the battle to elimininate all discrimination is still being fought. Considering that groups such as the N.A.A.C.P. are still around today shows that there are still many problems.

Many years ago we made significant change in racial relations. Recently though we havent really "expanded the boarders". Now people are blaming mexicans and latino people in general for stealing jobs and taking work away from "true Americans". Due to this people in america are starting to slightly more hostile feelings towards people of spanish culture. If we dont control it soon it could end up like how hostile people were to African Americans.

I think our country has made significant progress in race relations. Things used to be so much worse, but we have come along way. People of all different ethnic backgrounds work and interact together on a daily basis. Of course, there are always still incidents of hate crimes and things like that. What happened in Patchogue is very upsetting and completely unacceptable. I hope those boys who committed the crime are severely punished. America has made so much progress, but then people like the kids who committed this crime set us back.

In recent years i think America has made some progress in race relations, but not much. Racism is still a part of our society, but i do believe that we have been trying to make progress, its not an easy process to get through because our government would have to actually admit that their are problems with racism in this country.

I think America as a counrty has made progress in race relations. In the last 10-20 years i think that racism has died down a little bit but there has been a few major outburts of racism. Like Sean bell and the latino guy who was murded recently in patchoge. There will always be racism but less and less people will be racist as time goes on and as more different cultures live together in the same society.

In recent years absolutely not, in the last century, yes. We can see how poorly the nations race relations are by simpily looking back to last weeks election. Millions of American are still brain-washed and blind-folded by the fact that a man of minority race is going to become the most powerful man in the world. Millions of Americans still refused to admit that this is such an historic event for this country and a great way to shorten the gap between races. With that said, hopefully people will wake up and put the diversity issue aside.

I think that America as a whole has made a lot of progress in the last half century with race relations. I mean fifty years ago I’m sure that no one would think that we would have a black president. On the other hand though, I think that we can still improve our current attitudes towards other races. In response to the video I think that some people are just bad. Some people can’t be changed and I think that things like this are going to happen because we don’t live in a perfect world. Also I think that possibly we will be able to continue to make progress in race relations in years to come.

America has made tremendous progress in race relations over recent years. Our first African American prime minister, Barack Hussein Obama, is about to take office. Many people thought they would never see this day come and this basically makes America a racist free country.

I think that the United States has made progress in recent years. I think that the moral that are being taught now are helping to improve race relations. I think that America is more friendly to all different races than it has been in the past. However I think that there are still more improvements to be made. Acts like this assault and the vandalism of menorah's several years are evidence of the problems with race that still exist in our country today. I think that the kids who did this should be charged with a race crime, and hopefully it will deter people from committing an act like this in the future.

I do not think that America has made significant changes in race relations. I feel this way because there is still a lot of hate going on in the world and the American government preaches how we've made great strides, but in reality, there are still many people filled with racism. Yes, I do believe that African Americans have come a long way and that the American people were part of these accomplishments. But on the other hand, there are many people who have a strong disaray for the other races and culture throughout America. Also, I think that the election of our first black president is a step forward, but it means nothing if the Amerian people are not brought together.

I feel that America hasn't changed. We went from taking rights away from Native Americans, to making African Americans slaves for the white people, and now this. Granted we have officially elected a black president, but to me that means nothing. Many people didn't vote for Obama just because he was black, but this is the same for the fact that some people voted for him because he was black. Now with this hate crime in Patchogue I think this is just proof. It's partially the government that has made us this way though. When you give scholarships and funding to certain minorities you are just saying that it's more important to help them and get them back on their feet. In looking at colleges and their financial aid situations some of the schools are willing to give more money to potential students who are African American or Hispanic. Now how do you think that white people feel? All I can say is that I don't agree with it, so I completely understand how not all men are created equal.

I really don't understand what america's problem is. We all hail from different countries yet there are still those who believe they are "true" americans because their ancestors got here a few generations before other people's did. We are all the sons and daughters of immigrants. Our ancestors all came here for opportunity and we should allow illegal aliens to live in peace if they are good people. They arent taking your jobs or feasting off of your taxes, if anything most of them are barely getting by off of paycheck to paycheck trying to raise a family in the shadows of society. Why make life that much harder for them? I want them to seal up the borders so that this issue can finally be resolved and those immigrants that are here can live without the fear of mobs attacking them on a street corner. Racism hasnt really ended in America, just changed in form. Instead of going out in white robes and hoodies like in the 60s, we now have people making insensitive jokes about latinos and de facto social segregation within innercities in places like schools and neighborhoods. Its not mentioned but its still there, you can sense it. It still exists. We are not a racist free society until a person of any ethnicity can walk through any neighborhood they want without fear of a hate crime. it wont happen but we can hope.

What kyle doesnt understand is that in order to succeed in american society, most need a stable foundation in there lives. poor minorities often do not have this. Yea its easy to say everyone has the same opportunity and everyone can succeed, especially if your ain an upperclass town like smithtown, but if you are surrounded by poverty and crime growing up and go to a school with people who drop out constantly and have teachers coming in and leaving every year, what do you do. You cant believe in the American dream if you dont see it, it is a vicious cycle that must be broken in order for poor minorities to succeed. people who say that the white man is keeping them down are ignorant sure there not to blame , but what do you expect when you see poverty and crime around you and then turn on the tv and see a white family prospering, theres going to be some animosity there, especially if you live in those neighborhoods.

There is definitely progress in relation to the issue of race discrimination in America. As shown by the outcome of our presidential election, it is in fact possible to elect someone to office who isn't the "norm". As a whole, our country has become much more tolerable and there is great hope for what is to come in the future. Nevertheless, there will always be people who are racist; blinded by a skintone rather than open minded about the individual. In general, though, I do believe significant progress has been made.

I think America has made progress with race relations, especially with the majority of the nation being able to choose a black man as the person who will lead our country. However, it did take over 200 years to accomplish this, so I believe that race relations have not so much improved greatly over recent years as they have become better over time as people begin to accept those who are different than themselves.
